28 POINT PLAN
Many people find politics confusing and have little respect for their politicians, and the few who understand politics think even worse about them.

The 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine, promoted by US President Donald Trump, appears to be essentially a request to give up completely and sell out your country. For those who don't follow politics closely, it's like going to a football match and the opposition showing up late and saying they're going to accept the game as a loss. We will also collect your ball, net and uniform and charge you for our shipping costs. This might seem a little extreme for your team, but when you consider the thousands killed and the cities devastated, it's a disaster, a crime, and an opportunity that never presents itself.
Stop trying to score points, President Trump. Contact your great “friend” Vladimir Putin and tell him that he, as an occupier, is to blame for this and must stop and recognize Ukraine as an independent country. War is wrong, but stopping it instantly is the only right step now – a simple, single step, and not 28 points developed independently of Ukraine.

THE MISSING MARNER
Mitch Marner should not have been traded to Las Vegas. In addition to being the Toronto Maple Leafs' leading scorer in the 2024–25 season, he was a Toronto native who enjoyed playing for the Leafs. He was also known for his support of local charities.
I believe he was under pressure from the media and the fans' desire to win the playoffs. He was criticized for not scoring in the playoffs, but it was not a very valid excuse based on his valuable contributions in the regular season that allowed them to reach the playoffs.
I believe the loss of Marner is one of the reasons the Leafs have performed so poorly this year.

COST IS SKY HIGH
If I remember correctly, Mark Carney said to judge it by the prices at the grocery store. Well, the numbers are there and it doesn't look good. In September, I bought a package of pork ribs for $11 a kilo. Now in the same store, a package of pork ribs sells for $22.02 per kilogram. This is a 100% markup for two months! You will be the judge.

NEUTRAL ZONE
On the surface, the question “Why banning poppies in Canadian courtrooms betrays what veterans fought for” (Jerry Agar, November 10) seems like a reasonable argument. But no matter how virtuous the sentiments may be, all judgments must be neutral. A pacifist walking into a courtroom full of officials wearing poppies may feel that his chances of a fair hearing are jeopardized. This is why there should be no show of support for any cause in the courtroom, no matter how well-intentioned or benevolent the cause may be.
