THIS IS GREAT, WAYNE

Re: Wayne Gretzky talks about anti-Canadian criticism: “Deep down I know I'm Canadian,” online, November 12.

In response to Trump-related backlash, Wayne Gretzky said, “I can't vote in Canada because I don't live in Canada.”

Wake up, wake up Wayne, you and your advisors know full well that you can vote in Canada's federal elections. If you want, then so. Obviously you don't want this.

Visit the Government of Canada website: “If you live outside of Canada, you can apply to be included in the International Voter Registry. You will then be able to vote with a special mail-in ballot in future federal elections, by-elections and referendums.”

So forget about the false excuses, Wayne. Nobody buys your bullshit. You chose America.

Stop wasting our time or “rip the puck” if you only speak hockey language.

JACQUES IS JUST A MAN TO WORK WITH

A permanent position of parliamentary budget officer has been opened. The federal government has posted advertisements. He or she will be responsible for the transparency of public finances and act as an independent officer of parliament.

I saw an interview with Jason Jacques, the caretaker prime minister, and I was very impressed with him. He tells it like it is.

When asked Sunday, he said he would apply for the permanent position.

I personally believe that Mr. Jacques is ideal for this position. He has a wealth of extremely valuable experience, but he has not been shy or hesitant in his criticism of Mark Carney's Liberal budget. He doesn't sugarcoat it.

Let's face it: liberals are very thin-skinned and, in their arrogance, do not respond well to any criticism.

It will say a lot about the Carney government if it beats Jason Jacques.

HYPOCRITICAL CANADIANS?

Are Canadians hypocrites? Just asking. I think so. Remember, let's boycott everything American? Well, other than boycotting travel to the southern reaches of the US, I don't think it had any effect. Unless I'm missing something, have we boycotted American television or film programs? What about sports? Take the Toronto Blue Jays for example. These are mostly Americans playing, essentially, an American game. We watched in huge numbers. For example, we could boycott toothpaste. Wait, most of this is imported from America or owned by companies based in the US. Even the family dentist and doctor were educated in the good old USA. Again, I wonder if we are hidden hypocrites?
