Here's where you can find the new iOS 26.1 setup along with my recommended setup.

Where to find options for clear and tinted liquid glass

1. Click Settings.
2. Click Display and brightness.
3. Click Liquid glass.

In the Liquid Glass menu you will see two options: transparent and tinted. “Transparent” is the default setting, and “Tinted” makes the liquid glass elements less transparent.

“Clear is more transparent, revealing the content underneath,” Apple writes for the setting. “Tinted increases the opacity and adds more contrast.”

Tinted doesn't completely eliminate Liquid Glass elements from the menu, but it does minimize the design impact. After you turn on Shading, some items and menus appear almost opaque, like the search bar in Messages, until you scroll over something bright or bold.

Dark mode with tinted liquid glass (far right) is my personal choice.

These Liquid Glass settings will also not change your iPhone's light or dark display settings. You can turn on Tinted and go into light mode, or turn on Clear while in dark mode. But dark mode with the Tinted setting feels clean to me, and that's my personal preference.
