Google Maps It's best known for getting you where you're going, but its Street View feature also makes it easy for anyone to see photos of almost any address, including your own. This can be convenient when you're looking for the entrance to a large building or a nearby parking lot, but it also means your front door, yard, or driveway may be visible to strangers during a quick search.
If this worries you, you're not alone. Having such easy access to your home online can cause serious privacy issues, especially if you prefer to keep your personal space private.
The good news is that Google is giving you the ability to blur your house in Street View. Here's how to do it and reduce your home's online visibility.

How to Blur Your House on Google Maps
You'll need to do this on your computer because the blur feature is not available in the Google Maps app on iOS or Android. It's accessible through a web browser on your mobile device, but it's quite difficult to use, so your best option is a reliable web browser on your Mac or PC.
IN maps.google.comEnter your home address in the search bar in the upper right corner, press Enter, then click on the photo of your home that appears.
Click on the photo of your home directly above your address in the top left corner of the page.
You will then see the street view of your location. Click Report a problem in the lower right corner. The text is very small, but it is there.
This is the street view of your location.
Now it's up to you to decide what Google should blur. Use your mouse to adjust the view of the image so that your house and everything you want to blur are in the red and black rectangle. Use the cursor to move and the plus and minus buttons to zoom in and out respectively.
If you want to blur more than what is indicated in the red and black box, use the + button to zoom in.
Once you've finished adjusting your image, select what you want to blur underneath:
- Face
- Your home
- Vehicle/License Plate
- Other object
You will be asked to provide more details about what you want to blur if there are a lot of cars, people, and other objects in the image.
Also, be completely sure that what you select is exactly what you want to blur. Google warns that if you blur something in Street View, it will become blurry forever.
Finally, enter your email address (this is required), check the code (if necessary) and click Submit for consideration.
You will need to provide additional information about what you want to blur, so be careful.
You should then receive an email from Google saying that the company will review your report and contact you once the request is denied or approved. You may receive more emails from Google asking you to provide more information about your request. Google doesn't provide any information about how long it will take to process your request, so just keep an eye out for follow-up emails.
