This week, Wyze Labs is expanding its affordable line of smart home security systems with two new wireless outdoor cameras: the battery-powered video doorbell and the Solar Cam pan-tilt camera.
Wyze video intercom with battery
The Wyze Rechargeable Video Doorbell is designed for easy installation and full front door coverage. Its 1:1 aspect ratio lens with a 150 x 150 degree field of view captures any activity on your porch with a resolution of 1536 x 1536 pixels. The doorbell can operate wirelessly for three to six months on a single charge, or you can connect it to your existing low-voltage wiring for continuous power. Selecting the latter enables a pre-recording feature that captures an additional 3-6 seconds of video. to a motion event caused the camera to record.
With additional Subscription to Kam Plus ($3/month/$20/year for each Wyze camera you own), you'll get AI-powered person and packet detection, 14 days of cloud storage, and more. A Cam Unlimited subscription at $10 per month or $100 per year unlocks additional features, including facial recognition, and applies to all Wyze cameras you may own.
The Wyze video doorbell with battery can work wirelessly for up to six months. Connect it to your existing low voltage wiring to ensure continuous power and capture video before viewing.

The device is IP65 weatherproof and can record locally to a user-provided microSD card (up to 256GB capacity supported). The doorbell can record video to the card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when connected to power.
Smart home fans can integrate the Wyze Battery Doorbell with Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT, and Wyze Automations. It is currently available for $65.98.
Wyze Solar Camera
The Wyze Solar Cam Pan is the company's first wireless pan/tilt camera powered by solar power. It provides 360 degrees horizontally and 70 degrees vertically, recording in 2K resolution with color night vision and what Wise calls “high dynamic range.” The camera's ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) solar panel is designed to continuously supply power when exposed to sunlight for about an hour a day, complemented by a built-in 6,400mAh battery that Wise says can last up to six months on a full charge. Other features include AI-powered people tracking, a 105dB siren, motion-activated floodlight, and motion-activated alerts to deter intruders.

The Solar Cam Pan is rated IP65, which means it is impervious to the intrusion of solid particles (such as dust) and is protected from water jets thrown in any direction (except from a pressure washer). The camera supports Wi-Fi 6 (initial connection setup is done via Bluetooth) and can accommodate a microSD card of up to 512GB for local recording.
The included mounting kits allow you to mount the camera on a vertical wall or under an eaves, with the solar panel mounted on top or in an adjacent location thanks to a 10-foot cable. Wyze Solar Cam Pan is now available for $79.98.
We'll have reviews of both devices coming soon.
