Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) announced her 2026 U.S. Senate campaign, highlighting her commitment to Wyoming communities, energy production and immigration control.
Hageman released Her campaign announcement video on social media platform X with the caption: “Our faith, our family, our community and our country. This is what we care about, this is what we FIGHT for.” In the video, she reveals that her mother was born on a farm in Wyoming 102 years ago, and reflects on how much has changed during that time, from cars to clothing to technology. She states that “our standard of living has risen dramatically in the last century, and a major reason for this: the commercial production of affordable and reliable energy,” calling Wyoming a leader in these advances and vowing to continue to champion this way of life.
Hageman also highlighted her success in securing $15 million in federal infrastructure funds for projects in Wyoming, her opposition to federal land management policies and her work with President Trump to secure border funding and provide tax breaks. She also pledged to continue immigration enforcement, saying, “We are working together to secure the border and funding efforts to remove and deport those who are in the country illegally.”
President Trump's support for Truth Social came shortly after this:
Highly respected Congresswoman Harriet Hageman is running for the US Senate from the great state of Wyoming, a place I love and which WON BIG in 2016, 2020 and 2024!
I know Harriet well and she is a TOTAL WINNER! Harriet has ALWAYS spoken in Wyoming and will continue to do so in the United States Senate. She will fight tirelessly to grow our economy, reduce taxes and regulation, promote MADE IN THE USA, promote American energy dominance, protect our amazing farmers and ranchers, keep our borders SECURE, stop migrant crime, support our incredible military and veterans, and protect our Second Amendment, which is always under siege.
I fully and unreservedly endorse Harriet Hageman to be your next Senator – SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!
Additional endorsements came from National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Sen. Tim Scottas well as senators Bernie Moreno, Jim BanksAnd Markwayne Mullin.
Hageman Statement should Senator Cynthia Lummis' decision not to seek re-election. Lummis, who currently serves in the Senate and previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives, cited the demanding nature of the Senate as a factor in her decision. She has been a strong supporter of American energy independence and limited government, often praising Trump-era energy initiatives and warning against federal oversight under the Biden administration. In her retirement statement, Lummis expressed gratitude for working alongside Hageman and other Wyoming legislators.
Hageman has consistently taken legislative action against sanctuary jurisdictions. In May she presented The Sanctuary Cities Student Visa Ban Act, which denies student visas to educational institutions in jurisdictions that do not comply with ICE detention rules. The bill received support from several House Republicans and was framed by Hageman as a response to what she called a systemic disregard for immigration laws in some Democratic-controlled areas.
During his tenure, Hageman located himself as a representative of the American working class and blue collar communities central to energy production, declaring: “There is a new generation of Republicans. We are the workers, we are the ones who produce the things that actually get our hands dirty and make people's lives better, produce energy.”
She has argued that the federal government serves the interests of the elite by declaring:
He worked against us and worked for an elite cabal of people who were able to make a bank – both monetarily and energetically – and did things that our founders not only never wanted us to do or even consider, but which are terribly destructive to our culture and our future.
In an interview with Breitbart News, she criticized US funding of hostile organizations: “We fought a war against the Taliban for 20 years, and then we found out that we were sending them millions of dollars.” She also took aim at US aid to international organizations, saying: “We sent money to Hamas. Look how much money we sent to the UN and Hamas through their special agency to deal with what's going on in Israel and Gaza. I mean, what a terrible organization, and we're funding it.”
Her 2022 campaign against Rep. Liz Cheney saw Record turnout in Wyoming primary: Hageman defeated Cheney by 37 points. According to HagemanCheney lost because she remained focused on President Donald Trump rather than on issues important to Wyoming voters, including inflation, illegal immigration and energy.
