Toronto police say officers responded to a single-vehicle collision near Eglinton Avenue and Bicknell Avenue – just west of Keele Street – around 2 a.m.

A 28-year-old man was driving a Ford Mustang west on Eglinton with a female passenger when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete pole, police said Saturday.

The passenger died on the spot.

Her name and age were not immediately released.

The driver survived the accident

Police said the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
