Withings’ urine scanning health tracker is now available for $350

Whitings first announced its U-Scana non-invasive device that you install in the toilet to track various health indicators was introduced at CES 2023 two years ago. Unlike Decoda Kohlerwhich uses a camera to analyze your poop, U-Scan detects and takes samples of your urine, tests it using replaceable cartridges and sends the results to the Withings app, where you'll get tips on how to improve your health if needed.

Today the device will finally go on sale in the US and Europe with two different cartridges. U-Scan Nutrio monitors nutrition by measuring four urine biomarkers including hydration, ketones and vitamin C, while U-Scan Calci tracks parameters such as calcium levels to monitor kidney health and the potential for kidney stones. The reproductive health tracking cartridge announced alongside U-Scan at CES 2023 will not be available at launch, and while the device was initially awaiting FDA clearance, Withings now classifies it as a “health product” so clearance is not required.

Prices start at $349.95 for the Proactive option, which includes the U-Scan itself, charging and cleaning station, access to Withings Plus serviceand one Nutrio or Calci cartridge with 22 tests that last up to three months with just two measurements per week. Instead, the $429.95 intensive option includes two cartridges and 44 tests, allowing for more tests per week. Replacement cartridges, which can be shipped regularly as part of a subscription plan, cost $99.95 each or $179.95 per pair.
