Winnipeg’s Trey Vaval captures CFL’s top special-teams player award – Winnipeg Free Press

WINNIPEG — Trey Vaval of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers was named the CFL Special Teams Player of the Year on Thursday.

Vaval received the award at the CFL awards banquet.

Voting was conducted by Football Reporters of Canada and all nine CFL head coaches.

The five-foot-11, 163-pound Vaval led the CFL in punts (75) and yards (957), scoring a touchdown, and returned two kickoffs for points, the most in the league.

He also led the team in missed field goals (six), yards (391), longest returns (128) and touchdowns (one).
