The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have hired Tommy Condell as the team's offensive coordinator and Jake Thomas as the team's defensive line coach.
Condell's hiring became public late last week. The longtime CFL assistant spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Ottawa Redblacks. In 2025, his unit ranked sixth in net offense (338.5), eighth in points allowed (22.1), ninth in yards per game (5.99) and second in time of possession (30:59).
The 54-year-old worked closely with franchise quarterback Zach Collaros when he was the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' offensive coordinator from 2013 to 2015. In his first two seasons, the team reached back-to-back Gray Cup games and led the CFL in net offense in 2015 with Collaros.
Condell's first coaching job in the CFL came in 1997, when he was the Blue Bombers' special teams coordinator. He also served as the offensive coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonauts and previously held assistant positions with the Hamilton, Toronto and Ottawa Renegades.
Thomas was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2012 CFL Draft out of Acadia University. The 35-year-old played 223 regular season games over 13 seasons with the Blue Bombers, recording 196 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles, 33 sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception. He won the Gray Cup in 2019 and 2021.
The Douglas, NB native played all 18 of the team's regular season games in 2025 and remained a regular starter, making nine tackles on defense.
Current defensive line coach Darrell Patterson is retiring, the team announced. Current offensive coordinator Jason Hogan remains Winnipeg's running backs coach, a position he previously held from 2022 to 2024.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 10–8 record, qualifying for the playoffs as a crossover team before losing in the East semi-finals to the Montreal Alouettes. Zach Collaros threw for 3,048 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 13 regular-season games while going 6-7 as a starter.
The Blue Bombers ranked fifth in net offense, third in net defense and eighth with a minus-eleven turnover margin. The club's leading rusher was Brady Oliveira with 1,163 yards, the leading receiver was Nick Demski with 1,001 yards, and the leading tackler was Tony Jones with 104 tackles. Winnipeg ranked first in attendance with an average attendance of 32,343, up 3.7 per cent from the previous year.
