Microsoft really wants you to use Copilotproprietary artificial intelligence platform. In fact, Microsoft wants you to use Copilot so much that it's fine if you want to use it in Google services like Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar. A new Windows Insider update makes this easier. Are you excited? Don't jump up all at once.
According to Windows Insider BlogThe latest version of the Copilot app for Windows can now connect to Google's personal services to scan their content. A connected Google account can allow Copilot to search and analyze (at least) Gmail, Drive, Calendar and Contacts. You can also use this third-party connection to give it access to other Microsoft accounts besides your main one so that it can infiltrate OneDrive and Outlook through another account as well.
The main idea here is natural language search and analysis. For example, you might ask, “What is Sarah's email address,” assuming that you only know one Sarah and that the co-pilot understands the context. But if you're inclined to do that and you want the information that's in your Google account rather than your Microsoft account… why don't you just use Gemini, which is Google's flavor of the same thing? It's available right in your browser, no extra effort required.
Perhaps more useful (and less alarming) is the new document creation tool. Windows Copilot can now tailor a conversation into a Word document, Excel spreadsheet, PowerPoint slides, or PDF and export it. Both features are available through the Insider Channel in the Microsoft Store, although they may not be enabled for all users right away.
