WILLIAMS LAKE, British Columbia, Oct. 21, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) announced today the re-release of St. Joseph's Mission (SJM) Indian Residential School and Further Ranch Investigation: Interim Report conclusions as part of its ongoing work to achieve truth, healing and revival at the site of the former St. Joseph's Mission.
The interim report will soon be available for wider public access through Kindle, Apple Books and OverDrive at participating public libraries across Canada.
“This work is hard. It's emotional. But it's also sacred,” Chief Willie Sellars said. “The investigation has revealed painful truths, and we are re-releasing our interim report to ensure these truths are never forgotten. Our community has come so far, but we cannot do it alone. Healing the land and the people connected to it will require sustained effort and real investment from all levels of government.”
WLFN emphasizes that the revelation of truth must be accompanied by tangible and sustainable investments in healing. Survivors, intergenerationals, and families need safe places to gather, reflect, grieve, and receive cultural, spiritual, and mental health support—on their own terms. Continued partnerships at all levels of government will be essential to ensure that this work leads not only to answers, but to lasting healing and justice.
Waiting for re-release Interim reportVLFN invites all Canadians to read the report, accept its truths and support the nation so that this work leads not only to answers, but to action, healing and justice. Conclusions Interim report represent one step in a much longer journey that requires care, courage and meaningful support.
WLFN would like to acknowledge that information about Indian boarding schools may work for some people. The Indian Residential School Survivors Society Crisis Line is available at 1-866-925-4419 and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
