For officials in Singapore, the actions of one Australian “Evil: For Good” The premiere earlier this month caused enough chaos to force him to leave the country—for good.
Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority has deported and barred 26-year-old Johnson Wen from returning to the country after he smashed a yellow lane and attacked star Ariana Grande, reports some reports. A government spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
Singapore is Straits Times reported that Australian citizen Wen arrived in the country earlier this month on a 90-day pass to attend the premiere of a musical and relax. The self-proclaimed “Most Hated Troll” was seen on video jumping over a fan barricade to the other side of the mat. He ran towards Grammy winner Grande, swinging his arms and legs before roughly grabbing her neck and shoulders. He turned and smiled for the cameras before Grande's co-star Cynthia Erivo intervened and separated Vienna from Grande. He was arrested, charged, and then released.
Wen, who has a history of disrupting other celebrity events including concerts by Katy Perry and The Weeknd, was accused of causing public nuisance days after the incident. Shortly thereafter he was convicted and sentenced to nine days in prison.
During his trial in Singapore, Wen Jiabao said he was “going to stop,” according to the Straits Times. However, his statement in court did not seem to match his tone on social media.
Wen re-shared video of the incident on Sunday on Instagram. “Dear Ariana Grande, thank you for letting me join the red carpet 💛,” he captioned the video.
“Wicked: For Good” premiered Friday, a year after its original Film “Evil”. The sequel also stars Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode and Jonathan Bailey. Jon M. Chu directs both films.
