The 2025 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will create a festive atmosphere.

This year's ceremony will begin on Wednesday, December 3, during the live broadcast of “Christmas at Rockefeller Center” on NBC and Peacock. (TODAY.com and Peacock share the same parent company.)

The special event, hosted by Reba McEntire, will begin at 7:00 pm ET/PT and end at 10:00 pm ET/PT.

What type of tree will be on display at Rockefeller Center in 2025?

This year's tree is Norway spruce, donated by a family in East Greenbush, New York. Tree arrived in New York November 8.

Eric Pause, head gardener at Rockefeller Center, said he knew this year's tree was worth a look after seeing a photo of it sitting on the Russ family's property.

“As soon as I saw it, I knew it was perfect,” he said. told Center magazine.

Pause then contacted the Russ family, who happily agreed to donate the tree. Judy Russ said her husband Dan Russ, who died in 2020 at age 32, would have loved to see the moment.

“Since my husband passed away, I know he would have wanted to be here at this moment,” Judy Russ told NBC's Joe Fryer on TODAY. “We always talked about it being the (Rockefeller Center) tree. It's so special that my family's tree becomes the Christmas tree of America, if not the world.”

Russ said she plans to attend the tree lighting ceremony with her son Liam. The duo will join numerous visitors hoping to see the tree in all its glory.
