Kim Kardashian has a controversial belief that makes people want to keep up.
In Season 7, Episode 2 of Hulu's Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian admits that she doesn't believe the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing actually happened.
While filming her new Hulu series All's Fair, Kardashian tries to convince her co-star Sarah Paulson of her theory.
Kardashian tells Paulson, “I'm sending you a million articles at the moment, interviews with both Buzz Aldrin and others,” referring to another astronaut on the Apollo 11 mission.
Paulson replies, “Yes, do it,” and Kardashian continues to explain.
“This girl asks: “What was the scariest moment?” And he (Aldrin) says that there was no scary moment, because there wasn’t one. It could have been scary, but not because it didn't happen,” says Kardashian.
Kardashian continues, “So I think it didn't happen.”
The producer of her reality show later asks her, “Wait, for the record. You don't think we walked on the moon?”
Kardashian admits that she thinks it's fake. The producer continues: “What can you say to people who say you’re crazy for saying something like that?”
“They'll say I'm crazy no matter what. But go to TikTok and see for yourself,” says Kardashian.
The viral video prompted acting NASA administrator Sean Duffy to reach out to X with a response.
“Yes, Kim Kardashian, we've already been to the moon… 6 times! And even better: NASA Artemis is back under the leadership of the President of the United States. We won the last space race and we will win this one too,” Duffy wrote.
Kardashian wrote in response to X's post: “Wait…what's the tea on 3I Atlas?!?!!!!!!!?????
Duffy answers her question: “Great question! NASA observations indicate that this is the third interstellar comet to pass through our solar system. No aliens. No threat to life here on Earth. 3 = third I = interstellar, that is, from outside our solar system ATLAS = discovered by our Asteroid Last Alert System (ATLAS) team.”
At the end of the message, Duffy says, “We love your excitement about our Artemis mission to the Moon. You are officially invited to the launch at Kennedy Space Center!”
The target launch date for Artemis II is April 2026 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. according to NASA“Four astronauts will fly around the Moon on Artemis II, the first crewed mission in NASA's path to establishing a long-term presence on the Moon for science and exploration with Artemis. The 10-day flight will help confirm the systems and equipment needed for the first human lunar exploration missions.”
NASA also has announced that the Artemis III mission is planned to launch in 2027, where astronauts will land on the Moon for the first time, since Apollo programmore than 50 years ago. Between 1962 and 1972, the United States conducted six missions to land on the Moon.
NASA describes the mission on its website: “For approximately 30 days, Artemis III astronauts will travel to lunar orbit, where two crew members will descend to the surface and spend about a week near the lunar south pole conducting new scientific research before returning to lunar orbit to join their crew for the return to Earth.”
When Amazon's Jeff Bezos launched Blue Origin's 11th all-female crewed flight in April this year, Kardashian couldn't attend, but her mother Kris Jenner and sister Khloe Kardashian were on site in West Texas.
astronaut crew they included Bezos' current wife Lauren Sanchez, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, Gayle King, Katy Perry and Keriann Flynn.
Kardashian hoped to attend along with Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian to support her friend Sanchez.
Jenner explained about her absence from Blue Origin, saying, “Kim keeps texting us because she was supposed to be here with us and she's in law school and she had a big test she had to take. Again, I'm very proud of that. But she keeps calling, 'I have so much FOMO, tell me about it every minute.' So it's very inspiring and we're proud of each of the girls.”
We'll have to wait and see if Kim Kardashian will attend one or both of the Artemis launches.
