Carroll County prosecutors are subpoenaing additional financial records from Wendy and Eddie Osefo ahead of their insurance fraud trial. In a joint statement posted on Dr. Wendy's Instagram, the couple's lawyers say the new subpoenas are “deeply unfair” and argue that police “failed to properly investigate the original burglary.” They ask to cancel the subpoenas.

Prosecutors say Osefos has “approximately 40 credit and/or debit cards, some of which are believed to belong to companies.” Baltimore Banner. They also claim that the Osefos use pseudonyms in a “deliberate attempt to conceal their identity.” Osefosa's lawyers argue that any fictitious names were created to protect the Bravolebs' anonymity. “Osephos has never used a pseudonym in any financial application,” they wrote. “This statement is false and misleading. Such names were used to deliver packages after they were legitimately purchased to protect the identities of highly public figures.”

Wendy and Eddie Osefo were charged last month on multiple fraud charges related to what prosecutors said was a false report of a burglary. The Osefos reported that on April 7, 2024, more than $200,000 worth of jewelry, luxury items, clothing and shoes was stolen from their home in Finksburg. The State alleges that the couple actually returned $20,000 worth of allegedly stolen items and that Wendy was photographed with the stolen jewelry after the burglary occurred.

The Osefoses' lawyers argue that their home was actually broken into while the couple were on vacation, and that police began investigating their burglary claim only after the Osefoses were charged. “The Osefos have heard nothing but silence from police for over 18 months, despite full cooperation and requests for updates,” Wendy's lawyers wrote. “It is common knowledge that other Real Housewives cast members have also been targeted after documenting their journey on social media, but none have faced the same level of scrutiny or criminal charges.” Last weekend, ROBASutton Strack and Kathy Hilton reported that their homes were broken into while they were attending BravoCon. That same weekend the ex Rop cast Mia Thornton was arrested for theft at the Atlanta airport. Together with Karen Huger finishing her sentence for drunk driving, she's third Potomac housewife with criminal charges last year.
