Saskatchewan Roughriders franchise defenseman Trevor Harris wouldn't say if he's thinking about becoming a champion if the Green and Whites win their 112th Gray Cup.
““I know what you're doing here,” Harris said. 3DownNation. “Yes, I imagined that I would win the Gray Cup; I'm not here to talk about what comes after yet. Let's do this for these guys, for each other and We'll talk about it after the game.”
His dad and mom, Tom and Suzanne Harris, were at team practice, watching their son and teammates finish preparing for the Montreal Alouettes. Both parents were among the media at his news conference Saturday at Princess Auto Stadium.
The six-foot-three, 212-pound passer aims to… win my first Gray Cup as a starter on Sunday in Winnipeg. He won two games as a backup, one in 2012 with the Toronto Argonauts and another in 2016 with the Ottawa Redblacks. Head coach Corey Mays said he has not discussed Harris' playing future with the 39-year-old QB.
“Honestly, I know that’s not what he’s thinking about right now. nor it's mine. Ffocusing on trying to win this game and then all this talk that comes after, man. I think me, Trev and everyone else, we know what's going to happen [Sunday]Mace said.
It could be argued that Harris played the best football of his 13-year CFL career during the 2025 regular season. He completed 73.5 percent of his passes for 4,549 yards with 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Harris missed one regular season start with a head injury and was rested in another after the team was already in first place in the West Division with an 11-5 win-loss record.
The only thing Harris cares about is Sunday's 1-0 score against the Als. The future can wait until the CFL championship game is over. His teammates would love to see him win the Gray Cup and help bring Saskatchewan its fifth title.
“That would be great, but come on, it’s the sheriff. He runs the county, come on. He's an incredible guy. What qualities does he have as a person, how does he elevate us, the way he behaves is incomprehensible,” Aju Aju said.
“I look up to him. He gave me my first CFL touchdown; I will remember this for the rest of my life. It will mean everything, so I'll go there “We’re going to go out there and give 100 percent, not only for him, but for this province.”
Whether Harris can potentially retire and become a Gray Cup champion will be determined in 60 minutes Sunday night in Manitoba's capital.
