Pennywise is here in director Andy Muschietti's new HBO prequel to his beloved This And This is Chapter Two. A new part of the franchise. Ono: Welcome to Derrytakes us back to the 1960s and things will never be the same.
That's right Welcome to Derry Set in 1962, it shows fans what happens as Derry begins to experience some very unusual things, starting with the disappearance of a young boy. Bill Skarsgård returns as the creepy and famous clown Pennywise as we see him begin to terrorize people in this town.
So, to celebrate my new favorite horror obsession—seriously, I highly recommend this show—we asked Steven Ryder and Chris Chalk to play with puppies while answering questions.
The two discussed what it was like to join Muschietti. This universe with this series. In particular, they talked about what it was like to see Skarsgård in his Pennywise makeup and costume for the first time.
They also teased their two characters using just three words each. Stephen said his character, Hank Grogan, is “brave, loving and observant.” While Chris, who plays the iconic role Stephen King the character Dick Hallorann said that this version of Dick is “grumpy, heroic, selfish.”
Outside Welcome to Derrywe also took the time to get to know Steven and Chris a little better, including Chris sharing a hilarious story about his failed audition for the role of Michael K. Williams in Underground Empire.
It was all so fun and rewarding, and it made me love these two even more.
Be sure to check it out Ono: Welcome to Derrynew episodes every Sunday at 21:00. on HBO and HBO Max.
