Schumer's closing is still ongoing, and there are no signs of a deal coming to fruition soon. At the end of this week, November 1st will arrive, and on that day there will be a whole new round of consequences, including the end of SNAP benefits. President Trump (correctly) pointed out that several Democrats in the Senate are holding the country hostage over this. Speaking to the press on Air Force One during his ongoing tour of Asia, the president reiterated that Democrats can reopen the government at any time.
“The Democrats are delaying it. They want $1.5 trillion for… illegal aliens who come into our country,” he says. @POTHUS about shutting down Democrats.

The President said:
Democrats could just do a simple extension. This is the best way. Democrats are holding it back. They want $1.5 trillion for people getting out of prison, for illegal immigrants coming into our country, and we don't want to do that. Because it will help… It will really harm the healthcare that we have in our country. And frankly, we'd prefer better healthcare. We're not going to do that. Democrats could solve this problem with air traffic control; all they have to do is say, “The country is open.” We only need five votes. Republicans are with us. We only need five votes. Let's see what happens. I'm guessing that's taken into account here. Not only controllers, but also other people.
The situation here remains the same: the same two Democrats and one independent are ready to go against their party and reopen the federal government. If they don't, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits will be suspended or delayed on November 1st. The same applies to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. Federal employees will continue to not receive pay. Air traffic could be seriously impacted as TSA and FAA personnel are furloughed. And a key aspect of President Trump's agenda—immigration courts—could also be affected.
The President also spoke on national economics:
“Our country is doing so well economically, it’s doing incredibly well. Democrats should let her open up. I think they don't do it because things are going so well,” says @POTHUS about shutting down Democrats.

On this topic, the President said:
Our country is doing very well economically. So incredibly good. Democrats need to let this open up. I guess they don't because things are going so well. This is very bad. But on a macro scale this does not happen. Things like that. We just want people to get paid. We think this is very unfair. What about the man who contributed $130 million to pay our military? (Grumbling from the press) I won't tell you. I won't tell you. This is the man who called me and said, “Sir, I would like to make any contribution needed for the United States Army. I said, “I don’t know, it could be a lot of money.” And we found out it was about $130 million, and he wrote a check for $130 million because he's an incredible patriot.
That's the point: keeping the economy afloat is not in Democrats' interests. Not while President Trump is still in office. Their best chance in the midterm elections and the 2028 presidential election is to operate in a bad economy. It seems cynical to say that they may well try to sabotage the economy to improve their electoral chances so they can regain power and… well, torpedo the economy. But honestly, how big of a surprise would it be?

This is certain. The legacy media may not be interested in President Trump's responses or the administration's responses, but they are getting responses. No more 3×5 cards with a photo of the reporter and a pre-approved question he will ask along with the answer. Transparency is what they get, whether they like it or not.
