Watch this savage action flick on Hulu before its sequel premieres this month

Recently, when I was looking for a good action movie to watch HuluI stumbled upon an explosive action movie Content. It turned out to be the most exciting 90 minutes I've spent sitting all year. The visceral gut punch of the gritty Finnish film is the epitome of what determination and perseverance, fueled by adversity, looks like, with some Nazi vengeance and an all-female gang holed up there for fun. The near-perfect film (Rotten Tomatoes currently rates it at 94%) was so popular that it demanded a sequel.

To Sisu: Road of Revenge hits theaters November 21st, don't miss your chance to check out this visually stunning work of art, filled with old-school action, brutal carnage, and just one heck of a good time.

What is Sisu about?

One of best action movies I'm broadcasting right now Content is an ultra-violent historical action film about a middle-aged man so battered by the horrors of war that he refuses to die. He is relentless, he is persistent and he is indestructible. He is the epitome of courage and determination in the face of adversity and survival.

A mostly wordless film filled with punching, excessive shooting and lots of exploding mines. Content follows gruff gold miner Aatami Korpi, played by Finnish actor Jorma Tommila, as he fights for the survival of a group of Nazis who – no pun intended – are determined to kill him. The story takes place in the final days of World War II in the northern region of Scandinavia in 1944, specifically in the area known as Lapland. As a former military commander whose family was killed during the war, Aatami now lives a lonely life, roaming the Finnish countryside with his horse and faithful dog in a scorched earth shelter in search of gold. What he hides well is that he is a brutal killing machine.

When Aatami finds a rich deposit of nuggets of varying sizes, he collects as many as he can carry and heads home. On the way, his path intersects with a gang of brutal Nazis carrying their discovery: a group of young Finnish women. Aatami never says a word when they take his gold, try to kill his dog, and threaten him, all of which are big, big mistakes.

The rest of the film is filled with revenge as Aatami goes on a rampage in the fight not only to survive the Nazis, but to reclaim what is rightfully his.

What does Sisu mean and what inspired the film?

According to the film's directorJalmari Helander, word content is almost untranslatable and best describes “the steely form of courage and unimaginable determination that emerges when all hope is lost.”

Although the film strongly embodies the meaning of the term, Content is actually inspired by the popular 1982 action film. First Bloodin particular, the scene where Rambo takes out a sewing kit from under a knife and begins to stitch up his torn arm on the edge of a cliff. Helander says that when he first saw it, he was “so blown away by the scene that I wanted to do it justice, but in a cooler way.” He said GQ in an interview.

Why you should watch Sisu

You'll want and need to check out this tense tale of a one-man death squad, especially if you plan to watch Road of Revenge. You should also watch Content if you are a fan of thrilling action films filled with revenge and imbued with tenacity, blood, sweat and all-out carnage. The visceral film is no less interesting than such popular action films as John Wick, Rambo, Raid, NobodyAnd Mad Max: Fury Road. Trust me when I tell you, you will want to see Aatami reach her limit and then go on a violent rampage.

The funny thing is that Aatami seems unkillable and very smart. He fights on roads full of mines, survives when the horse he's on triggers one and explodes (don't worry, no horses were harmed in the making of this film), and even survives hanging. However, that's not all. Aatami also experiences extreme hunger and thirst, gets beaten with a metal hook, gets stabbed multiple times, and suffers a plane crash, and honestly, it's not that unbelievable that someone of his caliber could do this.

Aatami's cunning is everywhere: he hides underwater and kills Nazis who dive to look for him. He then uses their air bubbles to breathe, thereby continuing to hide and evade capture. You'll want to see how he endures these feats and manages to survive. These breathtaking stills from the film will have you on the edge of your seat with curiosity and overwhelming excitement.

Sisu also carries some important messages hidden in the plot. To begin with, the Sisu legend is not about revenge. It's about refusing to give up, even when the odds are stacked against you, even when you're in the grip of the cold, bony hands of Death. Even then you don't give up. The film also boasts an inspiring message of female empowerment, which is a refreshing aspect of this male-centric film.

When asked about the main message of the film, Helander also said: GQ“In short, [main] The message of the film is: Don't [mess] with the Finns.”

So, what will the sequel be about?

Sisu: Road of Revenge will focus on building on what its predecessor gave us, rather than simply repeating the same chaos. Tommila reprises her role as Aatami Korpi to dispense justice, consisting of unprecedented measures containing buckets of bullets and too many wooden planks to count. This time, the action looks biggerwith much higher stakes.

The story takes place in 1946, after the war has ended and Aatami returns to the Soviet-occupied city where his family was killed. With his bare hands, he dismantles the house they lived in, then stacks the wooden planks into a truck to transport them across the border, where he hopes to rebuild the house and start a new life. Over the past two years, the legend of Sisu has spread throughout the region. As a result, the Russian general, played Mayor of KingstownRichard Brake decides to unleash the only villain capable of destroying our silent, immortal hero: the Red Army officer who created him, Igor Draganov, played by none other than gruff master Stephen Lang from Don't breathe. Expect everything to be weaponized in what looks like a fast-paced, corpse-producing road rage full of steel-toed persistence and monumental impact.

Sisu: Road of Revenge It opens in theaters on Friday, November 21, 2025. While there is no confirmed broadcast date as of press time, chances are you can expect it to arrive somewhere on your device before the end of winter.
