The Spanish musician's highly acclaimed new album Luxout now
Rosalia appeared on Evening show last night to perform my song “Pearl” and discuss her new album, Luxwith the owner Jimmy Fallon.
The Spanish singer showed off the catchy track in a luxurious white dress while lying on a pile of mattresses on stage at the late-night show. When the camera pulled back, it was revealed that she was surrounded by musicians, including a string section. Reference to a fairy tale The Princess and the PeaRosalia climbed off the bed and pulled out a pearl ball from under the mattress (hence the name of the song). It is noteworthy that the performance was provided with subtitles for the audience in English.
The singer spoke with Fallon Luxin which she sings in 13 different languages. It also incorporates classical influences, which she says is a new direction for her. “I’m always nervous about sharing this,” she said of her approach. “More than when I do it. When I'm about to go into the studio, I know what I want it to sound like. I know what it's going to be like.”
Rosalía also showed Fallon how she creates different rhythms on the album by clapping her hands and taught him the different vocal warm-ups she uses in her performances.
The singer later joined Fallon for a game of “Seductive, Offensive or Bullshit.” In the game, Rosalia spoke to Fallon in Spanish and he tried to guess the tone of her speech, including her seductive intonation: “I think your wig is on backwards.”
Lux is out now, showcasing operatic inspiration, collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra and rigorous training. Rosalie honed over years of work. Rolling Stone praised Lux as an instant classic, calling it “a truly timeless piece of art” that “no other pop star could have created.”
