Canada's Victoria Mboko and Leila Fernandez advance to the second round of the Hong Kong Open in women's singles.
Mboko, the tournament's third seed, recovered from one set down to defeat Australia's Talia Gibson 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and 48 minutes on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old from Toronto, who won the National Bank Open in Montreal in August, hit 19 aces and converted four of five break points.
She will face the winner of Tuesday's first-round match between Britain's Katie Boulter and Alexandra Ila of the Philippines.
Second seed Fernandez earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over China's Wang Xiyu in her opening match.
The 23-year-old from Laval, Quebec will take on Germany's Eva Lis in the second round.
Nickname Auger advances to second round in Paris
Montreal's Felix Auger-Aliassime kept his chances of reaching the ATP finals alive with a first-round victory on Tuesday at the Paris Masters tennis tournament.
Auger-Aliassime came back from a set down to beat Argentine qualifier Francisco Comesana 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-3.
In other first-round bouts, Gabriel Diallo of Montreal defeated Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-4, while Denis Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ont., lost to Joao Fonseca 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. It was the Brazilian teenager's second win in a row over Shapovalov.
Auger-Aliassime's victory moves him 440 points closer to eighth-placed Lorenzo Musetti in the ATP Race To Turin standings. The top eight qualify for the final round of the season in Italy.
The 25-year-old won the ATP 250 tournament in Belgium nine days ago, but he potentially left some points on the table when he withdrew during his quarter-final clash in Basel last week with back pain.
Auger-Aliassime, seeded ninth in Paris, will next face France's Alexandre Muller.
Diallo beat Grickspoor for the first time. They met twice earlier this year, with Grickspoor winning in the second round of the French Open and the quarter-finals of the grass tournament in Mallorca.
The six-foot-eight Diallo, who arrived in Paris ranked 42nd in the world, will next face sixth seed Alex de Minaur of Australia.
In the loss to Fonseca, Shapovalov had nine aces, as well as nine double faults. The two met last week in Basel, where Shapovalov withdrew 3-6, 6-3, 4-1 in the quarter-finals despite showing no obvious signs of injury.
Fonseca, 19, won the tournament and became the third youngest player to win an ATP 500 event.
