Vena Is Bringing a Roguelike City-Builder Experience to PC Next Year

Build the best city in Vienna

Vena will be released in 2026 as a new take on strategy games created by solo developer Loerting. What started out as the winning title Godot Wild Jam 85 is growing into a full PC version via Steam, along with full Linux and Steam Deck support. The project now moves far beyond its original origins and enters a wider world filled with careful planning, changing decisions and a quietly tense atmosphere.

The game places players in a desolate space where every decision affects the lifespan of a fragile settlement. Instead of the leisurely pace of classic city builders, Vienna forces players to react to an ever-changing environment. The dice economy is at the center of every race. Each roll provides the resources needed to expand, acquire new buildings, and move deeper into the void. Factories, pipelines, and other strange items appear in the rotating marketplace, challenging players to forge an efficient path forward.

Vienna takes inspiration from tabletop design, combining Carcassonne's spatial strategy with an evolving structure Balatro. The map unfolds through hexagonal tiles that players place with precision, and each rotation and connection forms a production. Entire chains rise or fall depending on how players assemble the grid. Every activity feeds the Nexus, a power-hungry central presence that demands a constant flow of results. When players fail to meet these needs, the system breaks down and sends them to start over with a stronger approach.

Full production of Vena is scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2026. Combining city building, repetitive roguelikes and tabletop charm, it aims to offer a thoughtful and atmospheric strategy game for PC, Linux and Steam Deck.
