Halloween is coming early in Vampire Survivors and Poncle is going all out with update 1.14, now available on iOS and Android. This is a monster drop that brings the long-awaited online co-op, the official Balatro crossover and the Ode to Castlevania update closer to reality in one go. Because, apparently, Poncle no longer knows how to release small updates.
If you've been waiting for the chance to survive with friends rather than next to them, co-op is almost here. Up to four people fight together against endless hordes in online sessions. It will be cross-platform, seamless, and somehow work on your phone without burning up. You can create or join lobbies using a code, and yes, if you hide behind your friends, it still counts as survival.
Then there is Balatro. In collaboration with LocalThunk and Playstack, poncle has brought the chaotic world of cards and clowns straight into the chaos of Vampire Survivors. There are poker puns, ridiculous synergies, and four new characters that sound like they escaped from a cursed deck. Jimbo, Kanio, Shiko and Perkeo bring their own crazy mechanics to the game, as well as some new weapons like the Infernolatro and Fibonacci Seltzer, which sound harmless until the screen lights up.
An ode to the Castlevania expansion also returns with 16 new characters, 12 music tracks and an almost nostalgic scene. It's available for $3.99 with a launch discount, but if you already have the DLC it's free. There are also cheeky updates to Westwoods and Mazerella, both now available on mobile, adding even more mayhem, puns and (fake) monetization jokes for good measure.
Oh, and if your thumbs need a break from the touchscreen chaos, Vampire Survivors: The Board Game just launched my Kickstarter Today. Ponkle also reveals that two more big updates are coming soon, so if you thought you escaped this endless night, think again.
