An upstate man was arrested Saturday in Brooklyn after he told a gas station attendant he was on his way to New York City to carry out a bombing. ICE agents– police representatives said.
David Cox, 54, of Newark Valley stopped at a gas station about 100 miles away in Oswego around 9:20 p.m. Friday, where he allegedly told the attendant he was going into town for a No March of Kings According to police, he planned to blow up Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers while there.
Cox was caught Borough Park, Brooklyn, Saturday around 2:25 p.m. after the license plate reader was previously struck by a license plate reader, a police source said. However, no weapons or explosives were found in his car.
It was not immediately clear why he was in Borough Park.
Meanwhile, as the arrest occurred without incident, the No Kings march flooded downtown Manhattan with an estimated 100,000 angry protesters opposing President Trump and his administration.
The NYPD “tracked this guy down while keeping the rest of the protesters safe,” a source told the Daily News.
Cox was charged with making terroristic threats, making a false report of terrorism and threatening to cause mass harm.
