Each listener is matched Stranger Things character based on their music taste, and they appear on the cover of the playlist (I have Lucas!). It's a fun feature that matches your taste profile with a character from the main cast, and can be seen on both Spotify's mobile and desktop apps.
The second Easter egg found on the Spotify mobile app is hidden among the songs on the official soundtrack. Spotify likes to customize the look of your progress bar, as they did with the previous season's flashlight progress bar promotions. Now that your Spotify mobile player is open, your progress bar displays a Demogorgon head, which you can drag from side to side to get a red and creepy bar.
Finally, something I almost missed in Stranger Things playlist, but very educational, is Spotify's Storylines. This feature (where artists usually add short video clips about their songs or albums) is used to Stranger Things a playlist highlighting a few standout songs from all seasons.
This includes information about the song and what scene and episode you might encounter it in. These stories were very useful for me, as someone who did not grow up in the 80s and was not fully familiar with all the songs presented. Spotify is no stranger to popular media Easter eggs, thanks to its collaborations with official soundtracks. For example, when Barbie was released in 2023, Spotify received a “hot pink makeover” with a special pink progress bar for the film's official playlist.
Elsewhere in your Spotify desktop app, there's a timeless Easter egg that you can check out even today. When you go to the official Star wars In the playlist in the desktop app, you'll notice something interesting: When playing any song, the progress bar turns into a lightsaber that slowly materializes as the track plays. Your transformed progress bar even glows when you hover over it, and pressing the hilt gives you several different lightsaber options!
Google is also involved in the series “Stranger Things”
As much as I love Spotify Stranger Things 5 The Easter eggs can't compare to those of another famous platform. A special Google Easter egg for Stranger Things is an innovative and interactive option that you can use to transform your display.
To find it, simply search for “Stranger Things” and then look for the D20 cube at the bottom of the screen. Click on this and your display will crack. It then takes your Google screen to an upside-down position with an upside-down display and floating spores straight from a nightmare dimension. Simply press the “X” (cross) at the bottom of the screen to cancel your changes. You can also find this effect in the Google mobile app.
