Un député conservateur albertain songerait à se joindre aux libéraux, selon Marc-André Leclerc

Edmonton Riverbrand Conservative MP Matt Genereau is considering emulating his former colleague Chris d'Entremont and joining Mark Carney's Liberals, according to political analyst Marc-Andre Leclerc.

At 12:30. In a report on Wednesday, Mr Leclerc suggested other Conservative MPs would welcome the opportunity to cross the Commons and join the ruling party.

“Another name circulating is Matt Genero, the MP for Edmonton, in a race that was won by the Conservatives with 50% of the vote in April,” he says. Mr. Genereux was not a member of the Conservative faction.”

“It's probably more Red Tory, so it's more progressive than others. Edmonton, yes, it's conservative, but it's more progressive than some other rural parts of Alberta,” he adds.

So Tuesday's decision by the Annapolis, Nova Scotia Academy member could have a domino effect.

“Mr d'Entremont said this morning that there were other Conservative colleagues who asked questions,” the political scientist claims.

“When someone crosses the road, of course you are afraid that it will cause other people to do the same,” he continues.

The leadership of the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada must be questioned, according to former Parti Québécois MP Elsie Lefebvre.

“I think it really hurt me when Pierre Poilievre left, when he said Mr. Trudeau and his team could have gone to jail,” she said. This shows that Mr Poilievre may not be up to the task of becoming prime minister.”

“Besides, Mark Carney still rules to the right,” she adds. If there were elections tomorrow morning, it would be [les conservateurs qui se posent des questions] will their district win? I think that's what they're doing.”

However, MP Matt Genereux's office confirmed Global news that he would not join the Liberals, “despite rumors circulating in Ottawa.” According to Canadian media, he “is not leaving the Conservative Party.”
