Ulster head coach Richie Murphy says he was very impressed by his players' commitment in Saturday's match. A 28-7 win over South Africa's Bulls.
Wilco Law canceled out Stuart McCloskey's first-half try but Ulster scored three tries after the restart through Juarno Augustus, Rob Herring and Cormac Izuchukwu to cruise to victory.
It was the second bonus-point win in as many United Rugby Championship matches for Ulster, who have a game in hand over most of the league after their game in Edinburgh was postponed due to Storm Amy.
“I’m absolutely amazed at their determination, work ethic and tenacity to keep going,” Murphy said when asked if it was the best team performance since he took over Ulster in March 2024.
“I think we worked really hard for each other defensively. It shows that the team is building well and we feel there are still a lot of things we can be better at.”
“We have to develop this in the future.”
Ulster will now travel to South Africa for two matches against the Sharks and Lions before URC take a break ahead of the November international, and Murphy says his side are “going there with a mission to win”.
“I don't think we have to worry about any team we play,” he said.
“Going to South Africa is obviously a very difficult country.
“The boys are doing well now and it’s important that we continue to work hard to get better every week.”
