Ubisoft has announced plans to offer voluntary redundancies to employees at its Swedish subsidiary Massive Entertainment.
In a message published on social mediaThe studio said it had “introduced a voluntary career transition program” as part of its “ongoing development and long-term planning” to “ensure [its] continued focus on The Division franchise and technology, including the Snowdrop engine and Ubisoft Connect.
The statement continued: “To responsibly support this transition, we have introduced a voluntary career transition program, providing eligible team members with the opportunity to take the next step in their careers on their own terms, supported by a comprehensive package including financial and career support.”
Malmö-based Massive Entertainment is known for Tom Clancy's The Division series and has recently worked on Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
GamesIndustry.biz reached out to Ubisoft to find out the potential number of employees affected, but the firm was unable to provide a response.
According to the French edition Le Figaro (machine translation via PC gamer), the “voluntary career transition program” is open until December 15, 2025 and is aimed at “employees on permanent contracts awaiting transfer to a new project.”
Those who volunteer will reportedly “receive severance pay as well as assistance in funding job training.”
Yesterday (October 22) Ubisoft has revealed a “restructuring proposal” for its Finnish studio RedLynx.which could affect a maximum of 60 employees.
Ubisoft said the proposal aims to “reduce costs” and provide “clearer prioritization and efficiency” across its network of studios.
