Ubisoft to acquire Montreal-made March of Giants from Amazon

Ubisoft is acquiring the rights to the massively multiplayer online game Amazon Battle Arena (MOBA). March of the Giants.

Under the agreement, developer Amazon Games Montreal will join Ubisoft, with Amazon providing marketing support to the French gaming giant. Notably, this marks a full cycle of development for Amazon Games Montreal, as team founded in 2021 several former Ubisoft members, including original ones Rainbow Six: Siege creative director Xavier Marquis, who holds the same role in March of the Giants.

Currently, March of the Giants is at the testing stage, and those interested can request access via Steam. In MOBA 4v4, players control major big warriors who command armies and deploy tactical structures, giving the game a mix of action and strategy elements.

March of the Giants There's no release date yet, but the development team says the next major update will arrive in 2026 and will introduce new giants, expanded competitive modes, and other “core systems.”

Overall, it's interesting to see how Amazon made the deal with Ubisoft, but it actually makes a lot of sense for both parties. First, Amazon Games struggled for yearshaving had some success in multiplayer games such as New World And Lost Ark, but also canceled a number of others, including Crucible. And in October, Amazon laid off more than 14,000 people. Bloomberg informing that “significant reduction in roles” took place in the company's gaming division. In the future, Amazon Games is expected to focus on publishing games such as recently announced tomb Raider remake and next main line tomb Raideras well as producing content for its streaming service Luna.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft found it difficult to create another multiplayer hit that went beyond the still-popular title. Rainbow Six: Siegewhich celebrates its 10th anniversary this month. Last year, Ubisoft canceled XDefiantits crossover free-to-play shooter, which followed sluggish launches of new IPs like the pirate game. Skull and crossbones and sports game Roller skating champions.

Thus, it appears that both companies are counting on the results of the initial version. Siege developers reunite with Ubisoft. It remains to be seen what will happen, but hopefully this homecoming goes well.

In the meantime, Ubisoft has several upcoming single-player games. An expansion will be released later this week for Avatar: Pandora's Frontiers will be released with Fire and Ash Ubisoft Montreal remake movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time And Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag both are reportedly due to arrive early next year.. Recognized by Ubisoft Quebec Assassin's Creed Shadows has also received many updates and is one of the best-selling games of the year.
