It seems that almost every organization plans to use artificial intelligence to improve operations. Although autonomous intelligent systems (AIS) can offer significant benefits, but they can also be used unethically. Technology can create deepfakesrealistic looking modified images and videos that help spread disinformation and misinformation. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence systems were learning biased data can perpetuate discrimination in hiring, lending and other practices. AND observation AI-enabled systems may lead to misidentification.
These issues have led to concerns about the reliability of AIS, and it has become more important for AI developers and companies to ensure the ethical safety of the systems they use and sell. To help them IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) launched its IEEE Certificate ethics program that offers two certifications: one for individuals and one for products.
IEEE CertifAIEd was developed by an interdisciplinary team AI ethics experts. The program is based on IEEE standards. AI Ethics Framework and Methodologycentered around the pillars of accountability, confidentiality, transparency and avoidance of bias. The program includes the criteria set out in AI ontology specifications released under Creative community licenses.
IEEE is the only international organization offering such programs, says John LabradorDirector of Program Conformance Assessment, IEEE SA.
Assessment program details
professional certification provides individuals with the skills to evaluate AIS for compliance with IEEE methodology and ethical standards.
Individuals who have at least one year of experience using artificial intelligence tools or systems in business processes or operational functions of their organization are eligible to participate. you have the right to apply for certification.
You don't have to be a developer or engineer to benefit from training, says Labrador. Insurance underwriters, policymakers, human resources professionals and others could all benefit from this, he said.
“Professionals from virtually any industry or company who use artificial intelligence tools to process business transactions are eligible to participate in this program,” he says.
The training program covers how to ensure artificial intelligence systems are open and understandable; identify and mitigate biases in algorithms; and protect personal data. syllabus includes use cases. Courses are available in virtual, face-to-face or self-paced formats.
Students must pass a final exam. Upon successful completion of the test, they will receive a three-year IEEE professional certification, which is recognized, accepted and respected throughout the world, Labrador said.
“With certification, you will be a trusted source for validating the AI tools used in your business processes and will be qualified to conduct assessments,” he says. “It would be the company's responsibility to have several IEEE-certified professionals regularly review its tools to ensure they align with the values defined in our program.”
The self-paced exam prep course is available to IEEE members for $599; for non-members it costs $699.
Product Rating
product certification program evaluates whether an organization's artificial intelligence or AIS tool adheres to the IEEE framework and consistently complies with legal and regulatory principles such as European Union Artificial Intelligence Law.
An IEEE certified expert evaluates the product to ensure it meets all criteria. Eat more than 300 authorized appraisers.
Upon completion of the assessment, the company transfers it IEEE Compliance Assessmentwhich certifies products and issues a certification mark.
“This seal lets customers know that the company has been tested and is 100 percent compliant with the latest IEEE AI ethical specifications,” says Labrador.
“The IEEE CertifiAIEd program can also be viewed as a risk mitigation tool for companies,” he says, “that reduces the risk of system or process failure by introducing a new tool or artificial intelligence system into established business processes.”
