Unlike real down, I don't have to constantly fluff them to compensate for flattening – they just return to their original fullness after a night's sleep.

Another benefit of down filling alternatives is that they are safe for people with allergies. My six year old is incredibly sensitive to dust mites and regularly visits my bed to warm himself. We can read stories and watch a movie in bed (our favorite weekend activity) without it being overwhelmed. I also love that I can wash them easily, even if it takes a couple of cycles in the washing machine to dry them completely (helpful tip: add a few clean tennis balls or wool dryer balls to give them some fluff).
