Tucker Carlson Texted About How He “Hated” Trump

A cache of racy text messages released Tuesday as part of a libel suit revealed that the Fox News host Tucker Carlsonwho spent years on air as bait for former President Donald Trump's agenda, actually treated him with disdain and looked forward to the end of his term.

“I hate him with a passion,” Carlson wrote in a post dated Jan. 4, 2021, weeks before Trump’s term ended.

The release of the text messages is part of Dominion Voting Systems' $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News. Dominion claims the network promoted conspiracy theories about the election technology company and “recklessly ignored the truth” while trying to promote Trump's lies about voter fraud in the 2020 election.

The text messages were published along with numerous damning details about conversations between network hosts and executives regarding election coverage. Domestically, some are questioning the very claims of election fraud they are promoting on television.

In messages to his colleague, Carlson, who has repeatedly made Trump's platform of policies and false claims on his popular show, expressed a desire for the president's term to end.

“We are very, very close to ignoring Trump most evenings,” he wrote. “I really can't wait.”

He also lamented the failures of the Trump presidency.

“This is the last four years. “We all pretend we have something to show for it because admitting what a disaster this was is too hard to stomach,” Carlson wrote. “But come on, Trump doesn’t really have any advantage.”
