TSN performing ‘full post-mortem analysis’ to determine cause of Grey Cup blackouts

The 112th Gray Cup was a great event for the Canadian Football League and attracted a strong television audiencealthough the broadcast was interrupted periodically.

The broadcast of Sunday's game, which was simulcast on TSN, CTV and RDS, was momentarily interrupted at seemingly random times throughout the game, leaving millions of viewers stuck watching a black screen for several seconds.

It appears that the network has not yet identified the cause of the problem, although they are in the process of finding out.

“We were aware of intermittent broadcast issues affecting the Gray Cup broadcast and immediately engaged technical teams to resolve the issue,” a network spokesperson wrote. 3DownNation in the statement. “Unfortunately, the problem persisted throughout the broadcast, despite numerous attempts to resolve it. At least one service violation occurred during each of the game's four quarters, including one shortly before Shea Patterson's costly error that spoiled Montreal's chances of tying the game with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

According to preliminary data, average audience 4.02 million people watched the 112th Gray Cup on TSN, CTV and RDS, although the distribution between these channels remains unclear.
