Trump Will Campaign for 2026 Midterms ‘Like It’s 2024 Again’

White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said President Donald Trump will step down and “campaign like it's 2024 again” in the 2026 midterm elections.

During the interview at Mom's viewWiles spoke about the US 250th anniversary celebration in 2026, the 2026 Winter Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. Wiles also noted that rather than focusing on localizing the midterm elections, the Trump administration would turn that approach “on its head.”

“This is a great time for his tenure,” Wiles said. “He's such a patriot. He loves it. He's going to have fun next year, but we're going to get him on the campaign trail as well. Usually just a little campaign speech, if possible.”

Wiles went on to explain that “the midterm elections are not about who sits in the White House” but about localizing the election and preventing “federal officials from interfering with it.”

“We're actually going to turn this on its head,” Wiles shared. “And get him on the ballot because a lot of these low propensity voters are Trump voters. And a week ago on Tuesday, we saw what happens when he's not voting and not active. So, I haven't quite explained it to him yet, but he's going to campaign like it's 2024 all over again.”

Wiles' comment came a week after Rep. Matt Van Epps (R-Tenn.) spoke. won special election for Tennessee's 7th Congressional District.

Although Van Epps' victory helped Republicans maintain control of a “reliably conservative U.S. House district,” the election “contributed to the party's bleak prospects ahead of the 2026 midterm elections,” reports the Associated Press (AP).

Jason Rowe, a Republican strategist, said there were “signs of danger” and noted that Republicans “didn't have to spend that kind of money to hold a seat like this,” the newspaper reported.

“He's helping all these people—he's not helping everyone, but for those who do help, he's making a difference, and he's certainly a turnout machine, so the midterm elections are going to be very important for us,” Wiles added.
