Trump To Host Xi Jinping For Official State Visit

President Donald Trump announced Monday that he will host Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House in 2026 for an official state visit.

In a TruthSocial post, Trump said he spoke with Xi on the phone about “Ukraine/Russia, fentanyl, soybeans and other agricultural products, etc.” d.” During the call, Trump said he had agreed to visit Beijing in April, and Xi accepted his invitation to come to the White House later in 2026. “Our relationship with China is extremely strong! This call builds on our highly successful meeting in South Korea three weeks ago. Since then, both sides have made significant progress in keeping our agreements current and accurate,” Trump wrote.

“We can now look at the big picture. To this end, President Xi invited me to visit Beijing in April, which I accepted and I reciprocated, where he will be my guest on a state visit to the US later this year. We agreed that it is important to communicate frequently and I look forward to it. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he added.

Trump met Xi Jinping in October during a week-long trip to Asia. After the meeting, Trump wrote on TruthSocial that there was great respect between the two countries. He announced that China had agreed to help America with the fentanyl crisis and would begin purchasing soybeans, adding that China could make a “very big deal” with the US.

The President added that China agreed continue a flow of “rare earth metals, critical minerals, magnets, etc.,” which Trump previously said the country was threatening to cut off.

Monday's phone call was supposed to be a continuation of an October conversation between the two leaders.
