President Donald Trump proposed American sport football must have a different name so that football, which in almost all other countries is called football, can bear that name.
Trump made his comments during World Cup draw in Washington, D.C. on Friday, discussing the growth of soccer in the United States.
“When you look at what's happened to soccer in the United States, again soccer in the United States, we never seem to call it that because we have a little conflict with another thing called soccer.

“When you think about it, it really doesn't make sense.”
Trump was also awarded the inaugural FIFA World Prize at the draw on Friday.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented Trump with the award, which included a trophy in the form of golden hands holding a soccer ball. He was also given a medal, which he put on almost immediately.
“The FIFA Peace Award is presented annually on behalf of billions of football fans around the world to an outstanding individual who, through outstanding leadership and action, demonstrates an unwavering commitment to promoting peace and unity in the world,” the certificate presented to Trump said.

Vance is vice chairman. As chief executive, son Rudy Giuliani was tasked with managing and overseeing day-to-day operations.
11 of the 16 host cities are located in the United States.
The president had previously threatened to move the games out of cities if they were deemed unsafe, but after arriving at the Kennedy Center on Friday he reiterated his confidence in the safety of those cities and promised federal support if needed.
