President Trump signed a revised continuing resolution, a short-term spending bill officially known as the Continuing Appropriations, Leg Branch, Milcon-VA, and Extensions Act of 2026, on Saturday evening, which will fund the federal government until January 2026, ending the Schumer shutdown once and for all.
RedState reported on how the House passed it in a final vote earlier Wednesday, with the help of healthy staff from across the aisle, including Rep. Jared Golden (ME-6), who was the only Democrat to vote for the original CR more than a month ago.
As my colleague Sister Tolja wrote:
It's official: after several Democrats in the Senate finally fulfilled their role Monday, the House voted to end Schumer's shutdown and reopen the government Wednesday night by a vote of 222 to 209, with six Democrats voting in favor along with the GOP majority and two Republicans voting with Democrats. against this:
The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a massive spending package to reopen the government, setting the stage for ending a marathon shutdown — the longest in U.S. history — that has caused economic turmoil across the country and set off an internal battle among Democrats over the future of the party and how best to confront President Trump.
The vote in the lower house was 222-209, almost strictly along party lines. Only two Republicans opposed the measure, protesting deficit spending, while six Democrats supported it, citing the importance of renewing federal funding.

Trump added more about the pain Americans were feeling, including air traffic controllers at the nation's airports and other government workers who weren't getting paid, as well as those who needed SNAP to feed their families:
