Trump says US will begin stopping Venezuelan drug traffickers ‘by land’

President Trump on Thursday said the United States will begin stopping suspected Venezuelans “very soon.” drug dealers “on the ground.”

Speaking to US troops on Thanksgiving Day, Trump praised US Air Force 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, and their efforts to contain Venezuelan drug networks.

“In recent weeks, you have worked to contain Venezuelan drug traffickers, of which there are many,” Trump said. “Of course, there are not so many people on the sea anymore. You probably noticed this?

The president noted that drug traffickers kill “hundreds of thousands of people a year” in the United States from the “poisons” they bring.

“From sending their poisons to the United States, where they kill hundreds of thousands of people a year – but we're going to take care of that situation,” Trump said. “We are already doing a lot… It’s about 85% stopped by the sea.”

The President added: “You may have noticed that now people do not want to deliver goods by sea, and we will begin to stop them by land. It’s easier by land, but it will start very soon.”

“We warn them: 'Stop sending poison into our country,'” Trump said.

Earlier this month, Trump said he would not rule out sending US ground troops to Venezuela in the background suppression by his administration of criminal networks associated with the top leadership of the country and drugs exported from it.

“No, I'm not ruling it out, I'm not ruling out anything,” Trump said Nov. 17 when asked if he had ruled out sending U.S. troops to Venezuela.

Since early September, strikes in the eastern Pacific and Caribbean have destroyed dozens of ships, many linked to Venezuelan vessels. Train Aragua gang and the National Liberation Army of Colombia.

Since then, the administration has carried out at least 21 fatal strikes on boats.

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
