President Donald Trump has said he will take the final steps in a peace deal to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky prepares to unveil a new peace plan when they meet on Sunday.
“He has nothing until I approve it,” Trump told POLITICO on Friday. “So let's see what he's got.”
Zelensky told reporters on Friday that he would meet with Trump on Sunday in Florida and share 20-point peace proposal for consideration by the President. In addition, Zelensky said that the meeting will most likely talk about security guarantees for Ukrainebut said it was unclear whether “territorial issues would be discussed.”

” 20 point plan what we have been working on is 90% complete. Our task is to make sure that everything is 100% ready. This is not easy, and no one says that it will be 100% right away, but nevertheless we must bring the desired result closer with each such meeting, each such conversation,” Zelensky told reporters on Friday.
White House did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment to confirm the meeting.
Meanwhile, Trump expressed optimism about meeting with Zelenskyand future conversations with Putin.
“I think he'll be fine. I think he'll be fine. [Vladimir] Putin,” Trump told POLITICO. Trump also said he expected to talk to Putin “soon.”

In November, Trump said he would not meet with Zelensky (or Putin) again until a deal was reached. end the war was in its final stages.
Meanwhile, Zelensky noted that progress had been made and said he had a “very good conversation” with Jared Kushner and US special envoy Steve Witkoff on Thursday. In particular, Zelensky said that the negotiations are focused on ending the war and efforts to ensure lasting peace in the region.

Trump has met with Zelensky multiple times since taking office in January, including in February when Zelensky openly sparred with Trump and Vance in the Oval Office over engaging in diplomacy with Russia to end the conflict. Besides, Trump met with Putin in Alaska in August.
