Trump announces Gold Card immigration initiative for citizenship path

President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced the launch of the long-awaited Trump Gold Card, an immigration initiative designed to provide a new, streamlined path to U.S. citizenship.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump called the effort “a clear path to citizenship for all qualified and verified people.”

“US GOLD CARD IS HERE TODAY! A clear path to citizenship for all qualified and verified people,” Trump said.

“SO EXCITING! Our great American companies can finally retain their invaluable talent. The live site will open in 30 minutes!” he added, including a link to apply: trumpcard.gov.

Speaking at the White House, Trump also explained to reporters how the funds generated by the initiative would generate a “tremendous amount of money.”

“All funds go to US government“, he said.

“It can be a huge amount of money. You will also be able to help such people. Take just one example… it is something like a green card, but with greater benefits over a green card,” he added.

“And companies will be able to go to Wharton School of Finance, Stern School of Business, Harvard, MIT,” he explained, before stating that “essentially, in the United States, you can’t retain a student, you can’t hire people from top colleges, because you don’t know if you can keep that person.”

According to Fox News Digital, Trump first introduced Gold card concept in September.

The card features a portrait of the President, the Statue of Liberty and the American flag on a gold background, with “Trump Gold Card” embossed on the left side.

That same month, Trump also wrote in Truth Social: “For too long, millions of illegal aliens have been pouring into our country, and our immigration system has been broken.”

“It is no longer time for the American people and American taxpayers to benefit from our LEGAL immigration system.”

“We expect the TRUMP GOLD CARD to bring in over $100 billion very quickly,” Trump wrote.

“This money will be used to reduce taxes. Professional development projectsand pay off our debt,” he added.

According to TrumpCard.gov, the Trump Gold Card is a visa for individuals who can provide significant benefit to the United States. This requires a non-refundable processing fee of $15,000 and a gift of $1 million upon verification, with expedited processing upon submission of fees and paperwork.

Another option, the Trump Corporate Gold Card, allows companies to sponsor one or more employees by paying a non-refundable DHS processing fee of $15,000 per employee and providing a $2 million gift upon verification, the website says. The program includes an annual service fee of 1%, a transfer fee of 5% per change of sponsored employees, and possible additional State Department fees depending on individual circumstances.
