Trump Administration Is ‘Striking Innocents’ Like Putin

On Friday on C-SPAN's “Ceasefire,” Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) said the Trump administration was acting like Russian President Vladimir Putin by “targeting innocent people in the Caribbean.”

Host Dasha Burns said: “We're talking about Venezuela – these strikes are just part of a broader policy towards Venezuela. The President said this week that he is considering the possibility of ground strikes in Venezuela. They may be inevitable. There is tension that we are seeing throughout this first year of the executive branch and the legislature. Who does what when it comes to tariffs, and when it comes to war and peace? Congressman Hannah, on the question Venezuela, how much is Congress left out of this?:

Khanna said, “We shouldn't have a war for regime change. I mean, the American people voted for Trump because he said he didn't want regime change or endless wars.”

He continued: “As for Secretary of Defense, I would support Bacon's nomination for Secretary of Defense.”

Hanna added: “Representative Bacon will take the law seriously. He understands the consequences of targeting innocent people in the Caribbean, that it gives Xi Jinping or Putin the right to say that it doesn't matter what the rule of law is or what the rules of war are. That's not how America does business. We're different here. We follow the rules. That's how Putin operates, maybe that's how Xi Jinping operates. I want someone there that I can trust, even if I disagree.” with them that they will follow the Constitution and the rule of law.”
