There is absolutely no doubt that Manchester United are in need of a midfield overhaul.
Manuel Ugarte and Cobby Mainu are clearly not in Ruben Amorim's plan, Casemiro turns 34 at the start of 2026, and Bruno Fernandes, their best player, is taking over the slack, working overtime from the wrong position to keep the ship afloat.
A quality, Premier League-proven signing would go a long way towards improving the situation in the center of the park, but Scott and Adams make an interesting duo of targets.
Scott is extremely athletic, covering a lot of ground in Bournemouth's system, but is more of a ball-carrier and creator than a defender; Adams is the complete opposite: a tenacious presence, averaging 4.2 tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes, but lacking agility on the ball.
If United were to go ahead and sign one of them, it would give us an important hint as to what the long-term plans are for Fernandes, as pairing the Portuguese with Scott would be an odd choice on paper. Adams is a better tactical fit alongside Fernandes, but is he good enough to take United to where they want to be?
