Smith plays the character Bubbles on the hit Canadian television show.

The attack is believed to have occurred in December 2017, but charging documents do not provide further details of the allegations.

The charges were not proven in court.

Smith and his lawyer did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday, nor did the show's agent and manager.

Trailer Park Boys Inc. which produces the comedy show, released a statement Friday saying Smith had stepped down as the company's managing director.

“We are aware of the allegations against Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take these matters seriously,” the statement said. “We understand how difficult an allegation of this nature is for everyone involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on this matter.”

Trailer Park Boys aired since 2001.

The Smith's Bubbles character is known as a cute guy who wears Coca-Cola glasses and lives in a barn with kittens.

Season 13 recently wrapped production and is scheduled to release on the show's 25th anniversary in spring 2026.

Smith was arrested and charged in 2016 with domestic battery in Los Angeles in connection with an alleged incident involving a woman at a Hollywood hotel.

He denied the allegations, calling the incident a “loud and heated argument” with a friend.

The prosecutor's office said a month later that dropped the charges.
