Tracy Reiner, Rob Reiner’s Daughter, Reacts to Death of Her Parents

Rob Reiner's daughter Tracy Reiner has shared her reaction to the stunning death of the famed director and his wife Michelle Singer Reiner.

Both were found dead Dec. 14 at their home in Los Angeles, a source close to the family told NBC News.

“I came from the best family in the world,” Tracy Reiner told NBC News. “I don’t know what to say, I’m shocked.”

Tracy Rayner added that she had seen her father at a family gathering the day before.

The Los Angeles Police Department began investigating after it said on Dec. 14 that officials found two people dead at Reiner's Brentwood home. They have not identified them, but a source close to Reiner's family told NBC News that the couple was found dead from apparently stab wounds.

Around 3:30 p.m. on December 14, paramedics were called to Reiner's home in Los Angeles, followed by police dispatch.

Deputy Police Chief Alan Hamilton told reporters that officials had not identified a suspect and no arrests had been made. According to him, family members will be questioned.

Many Hollywood stars and politicians paid tribute to Rob Reiner78, and Michelle Singer Reiner, 65, after their stunning deaths.

“An acclaimed actor, director, producer, writer and passionate political activist, (Rob) has always used his talents to serve others,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement.

Rob Reiner directed such classic films as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, Stand By Me, This Is Spinal Tap, Misery and more.

“Misery” star Kathy Bates expressed her condolences in a statement to NBC News after hearing the “terrible news.”

“Absolutely devastated,” she said. “I loved Rob. He was brilliant and kind, a man who made films of all genres to challenge himself as an artist. He also fought courageously for his political beliefs. He changed the course of my life. Michelle was a gifted photographer. She took my beautiful photographs for the Misery campaign. My heart breaks for them both.”

Rob Reiner was also a comedic actor, known for his role on the cult sitcom All in the Family and appearances in dozens of films, including The Wolf of Wall Street and, most recently, the Spinal Tap sequel. This year, he also starred in four episodes of the Hulu hit “Bear.”

Tracy Reiner, 61, is one of Rob Reiner's four children. He was adopted by her during his marriage to the late director Penny Marshall, from whom he divorced in 1981.

He and Michelle Singer Reiner, whom he married in 1989, were the parents of three children: sons Nick and Jake and daughter Romy. The three joined their parents on the red carpet for the premiere of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues on September 9 in Los Angeles.

In 2016, Rob Reiner directed the film Being Charlie, which was co-written by his son Nick. The film follows the origins of a young man and his recovery from drug addiction and is based on Nick's own experiences with addiction. Nick went to rehab 17 times before he was cured at age 19.

“It Was Very Personal” Rob Reiner told TODAY in 2016. “What I didn’t realize was the depth of what (Nick) was going through.”
