It's been 30 years since the original was released. Toy Story was released, establishing Pixar as a renowned animation studio and introducing the world to characters such as Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who have since become household names. The fifth film will be released in 2026. First teaser trailer for the film Toy Story 5 arrived on Tuesday, giving a brief glimpse of the film's plot but leaving us without an explanation of how it ties up the film's ending. Toy Story 4.
In the teaser trailer for Toy Story 5, Bonnie, the little girl Andy gave toys to when he was in college, receives a gift. new a toy, and it is what Woody, Buzz and the whole gang are afraid of. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer and is very happy about it. In theory, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life, just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view this as a threat to replace them, which it probably is.
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody does with his friends in Bonnie's room. End Toy Story 4 saw him go on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling through a carnival and helping toys given away as prizes find good homes.
Of course, Pixar will deal with the consequences Toy Story 4 in the film. However, seeing him show up unannounced in Bonnie's room is a little strange. It also makes us wonder if Bo Peep will return with Woody. What about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
At least some things are carried over from the previous film. The last thing Woody did before heading off to his new life was hand over his sheriff's badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser, you can see the badge attached to her shirt. Let's hope she continues to be a driving force in toys.
Toy Story 5 will be released in theaters on June 19, 2026.
