Remember Tower of Fantasy? It was one of those Genshin Impact– these are gacha games, with their own special twist, so to speak, in the fact that it is a kind of MMO. I say sort of because it's described as a shared open world, meaning you can see other players and there are some MMO elements, but its monetization is much more gacha-like. Or, well, until tomorrow, November 25th, as developer Hotta Studio is pretty seriously stripping Tower of Fantasy of all gacha elements.
Anyway, this is on one new server, warp server. Once there, you will no longer need to pull for weapons and matrices (pieces of equipment), you can get it all for free just by playing various events and “daily gameplay”. This will feature a bit more of a traditional trading system, as well as a new in-game currency called dark crystals where you can buy and trade resources and the like.
There will also be a new seasonal system! Not like the weather, like the game seasons. They will have different progression styles and game modes, and there are rewards to earn such as outfits and typical seasonal items, although I'm not entirely sure if you'll pay for it or not. On top of that, to make the game more like an MMO, there are some new social elements, such as a new place called Crew Base, a space where you can just hang out with other players.
To be honest, there are surprisingly few details, which may be a mistake considering how the game Now we're not exactly loved by everyone. However, I wonder if the old ways of gacha are becoming a thing of the past. Games like Duet Night Abyss decided to abandon them, and upcoming Spider-Man/GTA hybrid, AnantaAlso will not follow the path of gacha. We hope more games go this route.
