Toronto police are seeking the public's help in locating two suspects who are still at large after a late-night abduction and… home invasion at gunpoint.
At a press conference on Thursday Toronto Police reported that two of the four suspects were arrested in connection with the violent home invasion and police chase it affected several areas of the West End early Wednesday morning.
Investigators are trying to track down anyone who may have been in the area during the critical period when the suspects initially arrived in the area, hoping that new leads will help identify prominent individuals.
Supt. Richard Harris of Troop 12 said a group of four people were in the Rexdale area waiting outside the home of a man involved in a planned home invasion. The four suspects arrived sometime between 11pm on Tuesday. December 2 and 12:30 Wednesday. Dec. 3, according to police.
Just before 1 a.m., four suspects pulled into the driveway of a home and confronted a man in a red Honda Civic.
One of the suspects pulled out a gun and forced the man into the back seat. The group then drove off, followed by another suspicious vehicle.
According to police, the victim was held at gunpoint for about an hour while two cars drove around nearby areas.
Harris said the suspects made demands at this time, suggesting they intended to return to the home where the abduction first began.

“They returned to the original address to speak with the person who was at the residence,” Harris said.
When the suspects returned to the home, the homeowner had just returned. The kidnapped victim and the homeowner were forced inside.
A third person sleeping in the house woke up with all three victims at gunpoint. The second suspect then pulled out a shotgun and demanded to see valuables, police said.
Police believe the original target was the homeowner of the Rexdale home, not the person who first arrived in the Civic. “It looked like these people knew where they were going and what they were looking for,” he said, referring to the items stolen from inside.
Investigators say the group stole cash, jewelry, clothing, electronics, marijuana and keys to two vehicles, including a red Honda Civic and a blue Ford F-150, and then fled in those vehicles along with their original suspect vehicle.
Police were called shortly after the suspects fled.
Officers eventually located one of the stolen vehicles on Highway 401.
As officers blocked one of the vehicles, the lone suspect ran from the vehicle and pointed a gun at police, investigators said. Police arrested him and seized a loaded firearm.
The second stolen vehicle, an F-150, was found near Albion Road and Islington Avenue. Police say the driver attacked the surveillance vehicle and then fled again.
The truck was later located around 3 a.m., where a second suspect was arrested after a short pursuit by Emergency Task Force officers.
Despite a 40 percent drop in home invasions citywide compared to last year, Harris said the crime remains a “major problem” for both residents and investigators.
The two suspects, a 35-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both from Toronto, are facing numerous charges including kidnapping, robbery with a firearm, breaking and entering, pointing a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm and carjacking with violence.
The 30-year-old man already faces numerous charges of violating court orders and dangerous operations.
Two suspects have not yet been identified and remain at large.
“We need the public’s help,” Harris said. “These people are dangerous and identifying this suspect vehicle is critical.”
Police are urging anyone who was in the areas of Martin Grove Road and John Garland Boulevard between 11:00 p.m. Dec. 2 and 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3, or in Weston Road, Highway 401, Crossroads Plaza, Albion Road or Runnymede and the St. Clair Avenue West area between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Dec. 3 to check dash cams, home security cameras, or businesses.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers.
