There's nothing better than getting caught up in a great TV show. Until, of course, you discover seven character deaths and four deep plot twists and think, “This definitely doesn't need another season.” Whether it's drawn-out storylines, cast changes, bizarre character arcs, or plots that didn't make sense by the series finale, there's a whole category of shows whose fans wish they could wrap things up as soon as possible.
So when we asked Buzzfeed Community To tell us about those shows whose seasons were released after their expiration date, the answers did not disappoint. Here are the 14 most popular answers:
1.
“Gray's Anatomy. Seriously, how many tragedies can happen to one hospital? With the exception of the core crew, the show sucked and continued to suck. Very quickly it became background noise.”
2.
“My favorite show is Lost. However, last season sucked. I still can't watch those episodes.”
5.
“Dexter there was supposed to be a three-season show. It became funny.”
6.
“My Little Pony. They should have left it at the point where she became an alicorn and not even forced me to start a new movie.”
7.
“The Walking Dead. I liked the show until season 8. I understand that it was based on a graphic novel, but as a show it never lived up to its potential. Negan should have died ending the series. All the spin-offs were good too.”
8.
“I think we can all agree to pretend that the final Scrubs the season did not take place.”
9.
“Once upon a time. Bless its heart, but it should have ended at least two seasons before it actually did. I even sat Alice in Wonderland extra season (to be fair, it wasn't terrible) but one day they decided to age Henry with his own child and make him forget everything that happened last season… it was time to change the channel.”
10.
“It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia stopped being funny years ago. The writers are all rich, out-of-touch white men who just can't figure out how to be funny without being offensive. They just need to face the facts and end it.”
11.
“Office after Steve Carell left. They had a string of just terrible storylines (eg Nellie stealing Andy's job, Jim and Pam's marital problems, Andy becoming an incredible jerk).”
12.
“Stranger Things lasts for a very long time. What do you mean season 5 comes out at the end of November but they split it up???”
13.
“The Simpsons. Don't get me wrong, I still love the series, but the quality of the episodes these days is lacking compared to the first 13-14 seasons, which contains all the iconic episodes. Very few, if any, episodes after Season 20 are truly memorable.”
14.
“The Big Bang Theory should have ended after seven seasons.”
