Tunz General Director of Media Group P.Jayakumar steps down from his position after over 26 years at the helm of the Indian animation studio, effective November 30.
During his tenure, Jayakumar transformed Toonz from a pioneering Indian animation studio into a global entertainment player specializing in children's and family content. The company has expanded its activities internationally, opening studios and offices in India, Ireland, Spain and New Zealand.
“Leading Toonz has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” Jayakumar said in a statement. “What started as the dream of a small, passionate team has now grown into a global source of creativity and storytelling.”
The outgoing CEO expressed gratitude to the company's team and international partners, and also announced plans to create a new enterprise. “Although I will be stepping down from my current role, I will always remain emotionally connected to Toonz. In the coming months, I intend to launch a new venture that will continue my long-standing passion for creativity and collaboration in the global entertainment space,” he said.
To ease the transition, Jayakumar worked with Vishwanath Rao, acting group CEO, and Karthik V. Kumar, who was recently appointed as CFO and board member of Toonz Animation India.
Founded in 1999 and headquartered at Thiruvananthapuram Tech Park, Toonz Media Group has produced and distributed thousands of hours of animated content, partnering with major studios, broadcasters and streaming platforms across the world. The company specializes in animation, visual effects and digital content aimed at children and family audiences.
